Similarly confusing is that command names don't have aliases for different contexts.

These should also be surfaced in the "View" menu, like a UI-whinge-thread and it's not mine?! Well, let me join the party 🙂

Some could be trivially resolved, like showing the notes panel by default in new installations - it took him way too long to figure out how to get at notes, arguably the most important feature in the whole app (not his fault.) Another example is the four tiny buttons in the divider for moving the notes panel around. Things we take for granted are confusing to new users and most of his issues could be alleviated by a review of the UI. (The point here is not that Thought names should be spell-checked!)Īnyway, no biggy, it was just something I was thinking about after watching that YouTube video from a brand new user the other day. A user might be confused when they switch this option on, create a thought with misspelt word and wonder why it's not called out.

This is clear in the preferences dialog because it's in the "Notes Editor" tab but it's not clear in the Options menu. "Check Spelling as you Type" is also confusing as it only relates to the notes panel. For example, "Check Spelling as you Type" already exists in the preferences dialog and doesn't appear to be used so frequently that it demands to be surfaced in a top-level menu. I feel like everything in the "Options" menu should either be somewhere else or not in any of the top-level menus at all. "View" just feels like the right place for it to be. 🙂Įvery time I go to find the "Hide Private Thoughts" feature I always click in the "View" menu, not "Options". This is pretty trivial really but feedback is feedback and I have very few bigger challenges with TB these days.
